SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK 2019

{ Project Overview }

Creativeans launched Creativity Festival in conjunction with Singapore Design Week 2019, creating a one-day symposium dedicated to branding, creativity, and design thinking.

The festival brought together subject matter experts, talks, and an interactive workshop to help participants understand how creativity can be applied beyond inspiration alone. It positioned branding and design thinking as practical tools for business growth, problem-solving, and creative transformation.

Held as part of Singapore Design Week, organised by DesignSingapore Council, Creativity Festival contributed to a wider celebration of local and international design activities in Singapore. The event reflected Creativeans’ commitment to making design knowledge more accessible to businesses, creatives, and the wider community.

{ Creative Challenge }

Bridging the gap between awareness of branding and practical tools for small businesses.
  1. 01

    Many business owners and attendees knew branding was important but lacked clear understanding of how branding actually works in practice

  2. 02

    There was a need to demystify branding and creativity so it feels accessible, not just idealistic or theoretical

  3. 03

    Businesses had inconsistent or weak visual identities and storytelling, limiting their ability to connect emotionally with their audiences

  4. 04

    Without experiential learning and guided methodologies, participants risked leaving with ideas but no concrete way to implement them

{ The Solution }

Delivered a one-day immersive symposium that empowers participants with tangible branding tools and inspiration.
  1. Organised the Creativity Festival as part of Singapore Design Week 2019, featuring a morning session of industry speakers on creativity, branding, and design thinking

  2. Ran a hands-on branding workshop to help business owners understand branding vs marketing, explore brand value, and apply practical exercises

  3. Hosted panel discussions about strategy, service, and product design to share insights on how to turn imaginative ideas into reality

  4. Provided methodologies and interactive activities so participants could leave with actionable insights to build stronger and more meaningful brands

{ Celebrating Creativity }

Creativity Festival brought branding, creativity, and design together in a one-day learning experience, helping participants explore how creative thinking can shape stronger brands and better business ideas.

The festival opened with an insightful morning session featuring speakers from different industries, each sharing perspectives on creativity, design, and their role in today’s business landscape. These sessions gave participants a broader view of how creative approaches can be applied across different fields and challenges.

The programme continued with a hands-on brand-building workshop that made branding more accessible through practical examples and interactive activities. Participants were introduced to useful methodologies that they could apply to their own businesses, turning the festival into both an inspiring and actionable learning experience.

{ Panel Discussion }

The panel discussions brought together industry perspectives on branding and design, exploring how creative ideas can be developed, challenged, and translated into meaningful outcomes.

Moderated by Sharina Khan, the Branding Track focused on how ideas are generated and how alternative approaches can help solve problems more effectively. The discussion encouraged participants to see creativity as a structured process, where imagination can be shaped into practical brand and business possibilities.

The Design Track explored how speakers approach design across strategy, service, and product development. Through their shared experiences, participants gained insight into how design can influence organisations, improve experiences, and create positive impact for people.

{ Branding Workshop }

The branding workshop helped participants understand how strong brands are built, making the difference between branding and marketing clearer through practical examples and interactive activities.

Facilitated by Yulia Saksen, co-author of the branding book Are You Brand Dead?, the hands-on session unpacked key branding concepts in an accessible and engaging way. Participants were guided to think about whether their businesses were communicating clear value and building stronger brand equity.

Through structured exercises and real-world examples, the workshop introduced methodologies that participants could apply to their own businesses. This made the session both educational and practical, helping attendees leave with clearer tools for shaping a stronger and more competitive brand.

“The best takeaway for me for any event is the learning part. There’s an opportunity to hear feedback and debate about stuff. I think that’s the biggest takeaway. The relationships that come after as well is the bonus.”
