Web Design Singapore: Real Costs & Pricing Guide for 2026

Updated November 2026 with current prices and the latest grant information. All prices are in Singapore dollars.

Enterprise Singapore’s EDGE grant replaced the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) and the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) for new applications. Information about EDG, MRA or PSG in this article may no longer apply. For branding projects, see our page on the EDGE grant for branding.

Planning a new website and wondering what it will cost? In Singapore in 2026, a simple template website can cost from about $1,000, a business website typically costs $4,000 to $12,000, and a complex web application can cost more than $100,000. Where your project lands depends on what your website needs to do, how much of it is custom designed, and who builds it.

In this guide, we explain typical prices for each type of website, what moves the cost up or down, what freelancers and agencies charge, what it costs to run a website after launch, and what government grants cover in 2026. The ranges are based on prices that Singapore web design providers publish, which we reviewed in October 2026, so you can plan your budget before you ask for quotes.

Understanding Web Design Costs in Singapore

The landscape of website design pricing in Singapore reflects a complex interplay of factors that business owners must navigate carefully. Unlike standard products with fixed price tags, website costs vary dramatically based on specific project requirements and business circumstances. Web design firms and website designers in Singapore alike must consider these factors when providing custom quotes. The best web design agencies in Singapore often offer tailored pricing models based on a company’s growth goals, complexity needs, and available technology solutions, especially for businesses seeking long-term support.

What influences pricing in 2026?

The biggest factor is what your website needs to do. A simple site of up to five pages built on a template usually costs $1,000 to $5,000. A business website of 5 to 15 pages, with a custom design and a content management system, usually costs $4,000 to $12,000. An online shop usually costs $10,000 to $30,000 or more, depending on how many products you sell and which systems it connects to.

How much of the design is made for you also matters. Moving from a template to a fully custom design typically adds $2,000 to $10,000, and it is often what makes a website feel like your brand rather than someone else’s.

Mobile is now part of the standard cost, not an extra. In September 2026, about 57% of web traffic in Singapore came from mobile devices, according to StatCounter, so your website needs to work well on a phone.

Why costs vary between providers

Much of the difference comes from who does the work and what is included. Freelance web designers in Singapore typically charge $30 to $150 an hour. Agencies typically charge $100 to $300 an hour, and large agencies and consultancies can charge more. Most agencies quote a fixed price for the whole project, which makes budgeting easier.

A higher price usually buys more than the design itself. Agencies bring project management, testing and planning, and some also bring brand strategy and user experience research. A lower price usually means a template, fewer pages and lighter support after launch, which can suit a simple site well.

The impact of business goals on budget

Before committing to any web design project, savvy business owners should recognise that their website is not merely a digital brochure. Rather, it functions as a sales tool, customer service touchpoint, and key component of your marketing engine. Consequently, budgeting should focus on ensuring every dollar contributes to growth, performance, and long-term value—especially when working with a professional web design agency in Singapore or digital marketing agency that understands how to drive measurable results through integrated strategy.

Your specific business objectives directly influence necessary website features and, therefore, costs. For instance, companies prioritising lead generation need robust contact forms, CRM integration, and conversion-optimised landing pages. Conversely, those focused on e-commerce require secure payment gateways, product management systems, and possibly marketplace integrations—all areas where experienced developers make a significant difference.

Defining business objectives early helps identify must-have features and plan for ongoing support. This strategic approach prevents scope creep and unexpected costs while ensuring the final product delivers genuine business value rather than merely aesthetic appeal. A professional web design agency can help align your website’s features with your business goals, potentially improving conversion rates and overall website performance.

Breakdown of Website Types and Their Price Ranges

Singapore’s website design market segments neatly into distinct price categories, each offering different levels of functionality, customization, and complexity. Understanding these categories helps businesses align their digital needs with appropriate budget expectations.

Template and freelancer websites ($1,000 – $5,000)

Simple websites work like a digital business card. They usually have up to five pages, such as Home, About, Services and Contact, with a contact form, basic SEO set-up and a design that works on mobile. Most are built on a template by a freelancer or a small studio, and they typically cost $1,000 to $5,000.

These simple websites particularly suit:

  • Freelancers establishing professional presence
  • New startups with limited initial budgets
  • Small local businesses needing basic online visibility
  • Service providers with straightforward offerings

At this price, you will usually get a template rather than a design made for your brand. Brand strategy, custom design, content writing and ongoing support are often extra, so it is worth checking exactly what your quote includes.

Business websites ($4,000 – $12,000)

Business websites suit companies that need their website to work harder than an online brochure. They usually have 5 to 15 pages, a custom or partly custom design, a content management system so your team can update the site, and tools such as booking or enquiry forms. In Singapore, they typically cost $4,000 to $12,000.

These websites serve businesses that require:

  • Brand-specific design elements
  • Content management system integration
  • Interactive elements and enhanced user experience
  • Integration with basic business tools

For many growing companies, this level offers the best balance between cost and a website that reflects the brand and supports sales.

Corporate and custom-designed websites ($10,000 – $30,000+)

Corporate websites are built to earn the trust of customers, partners and investors. They usually have a fully custom design based on the brand, careful user experience planning, more pages and content sections, and often several languages or links to business systems. In Singapore, they typically cost $10,000 to $30,000 or more, and large sites with many languages, integrations or custom features are usually quoted individually.

Such websites primarily benefit:

  • Large enterprises requiring robust digital infrastructure
  • Multinational companies needing multilingual support
  • Organisations with complex user journeys
  • Businesses integrating websites with internal systems

Here, you are investing in strategy, user experience and custom design, not only the build, so the website can grow with your business.

E-commerce websites ($10,000 – $30,000+)

An online shop needs a shopping cart, secure payments, product management and often stock and delivery tools. A custom online shop typically costs $10,000 to $30,000 or more. If you are starting small, a store set up on a platform such as Shopify with a ready-made theme can start from about $4,000.

Key factors influencing e-commerce pricing include:

  • Number of products (sites with 500+ products cost significantly more)
  • Payment gateway integrations
  • Inventory management complexity
  • Shipping calculation systems
  • Customer account functionality

Online shops also cost more to run than simple websites, so it helps to plan for maintenance from the start.

Web applications ($20,000 – $100,000+)

Web applications go beyond a standard website, with features such as user accounts, dashboards, booking systems or software sold as a service. They typically cost $20,000 to $100,000 or more, depending on how complex they are.

These custom-built solutions address specific business challenges through tailored functionality, often including user accounts, booking systems, dashboards, or SaaS capabilities. Given their complexity, web applications require substantial development resources and specialised expertise from experienced web developers.

Web applications predominantly serve:

  • Businesses with unique operational requirements
  • Companies needing custom workflows
  • Organisations developing proprietary tools
  • Enterprises requiring advanced data visualisation

The substantial investment delivers software solutions that can transform business operations, create new revenue streams, or significantly enhance customer experience through customised digital tools. A web design agency with expertise in both web design and application development can be invaluable for these projects.

Key Factors That Affect Web Design Pricing

Behind every website quote lies a complex calculation based on several critical factors. Understanding these elements helps explain the vast price differences you’ll encounter when seeking web design services in Singapore.

Website complexity and number of pages

Project scope fundamentally shapes all web design costs. A straightforward five-page informational site naturally costs less than a complex platform with hundreds of dynamic pages. Professional development teams assess complexity through several specific lenses:

  • Total page count and unique template requirements
  • User role variations and permission systems
  • Custom workflow implementation needs
  • Data management complexity
  • Integration requirements with existing systems

The presence of dynamic content—elements that update based on user interactions or backend changes—substantially increases development costs as these require database queries, APIs, and specialised caching strategies. A skilled web developer can optimize these elements to ensure smooth performance.

To see what each stage involves, read our step-by-step guide to the website design process.

Level of customisation and branding

Design is a spectrum. A template is the most affordable starting point, but it makes it harder to stand out from competitors using similar layouts. A fully custom design takes longer and typically adds $2,000 to $10,000 to a build, but it gives you a website that looks and feels like your brand.

Professional design customisation involves:

  • Proprietary visual language development
  • Custom UI component creation
  • Specialised animation and interaction design
  • Typography selection and implementation

A website design agency can help create a user-centric design that aligns with your brand identity while adhering to current web design trends.

Mobile responsiveness and UX design

With about 57% of web traffic in Singapore coming from mobile devices in September 2026, according to StatCounter, a website that works well on a phone is essential. While basic responsiveness now represents a standard expectation, complex responsive behaviours require additional development investment. Mobile optimization is crucial for maintaining low bounce rates and high user engagement across all devices.

SEO integration and content strategy

Content development remains a frequently underestimated component of web design costs. Sites requiring extensive content creation, migration, or organisation demand significant resources beyond technical development. Implementing SEO optimization best practices during development increases initial costs but delivers long-term value through improved search engine rankings and organic traffic. Many web design agencies offer combined web design and SEO services to ensure a holistic approach.

Hosting, maintenance, and security costs

Website maintenance requirements constitute an essential consideration in overall cost assessment. Maintenance factors affecting long-term costs include:

  • Content update frequency
  • Security monitoring requirements
  • Performance optimisation needs
  • Backup and disaster recovery protocols

It is worth budgeting for running costs every year after launch:

  • Hosting: about $60 to $600 a year for a small business site, depending on the type of hosting.
  • Domain name: a .com.sg domain costs about $45 to $80 a year to renew.
  • Maintenance: published maintenance plans from Singapore providers range from about $150 to $550 a month, covering updates, backups and security.

Altogether, hosting, domain, security and maintenance for a small business site typically cost $1,000 to $6,000 a year.

Choosing Between Freelancers and Agencies

Deciding between a freelance website designer and a website design agency is a pivotal choice that shapes your project outcomes. The selection ultimately depends on your specific business requirements, budget constraints, and long-term digital goals.

Cost comparison: freelancers vs agencies

Freelancers usually cost less than agencies because they have lower overheads. For a business website of 5 to 10 pages, a freelancer typically charges $2,000 to $6,000.

A full-service agency typically charges $5,000 to $25,000 or more. In return, you get strategy, design, development, testing and project management from one team.

Pros and cons of each option

Freelance website designers excel in providing personalised attention with direct communication channels to the designer. They often demonstrate greater flexibility regarding project adjustments and typically deliver faster turnarounds due to fewer internal processes. Admittedly, their availability can become problematic if they fall ill or take holidays, potentially causing project delays.

Web design agencies bring diversified expertise through specialised teams covering design, development, SEO, and project management. They offer structured support packages, maintenance plans, and typically provide more reliable long-term partnerships. Nonetheless, communication may become less direct as it often flows through account managers rather than the actual designers.

When to choose one over the other

Consider a freelance web designer if:

  • Your budget is under about $6,000
  • You prefer direct, personal communication
  • Your project has straightforward requirements
  • You need faster implementation
  • You value flexibility and hands-on involvement

Opt for a web design agency when:

  • You require comprehensive services (branding, marketing, content strategy)
  • Your website needs complex functionality or integrations
  • Long-term support and scalability are priorities
  • You need diverse expertise (UX specialists, developers, SEO experts)
  • Project reliability and accountability are paramount

Essentially, smaller projects with limited scope typically benefit from freelancers’ cost-efficiency, while larger, more complex websites justify an agency’s structured approach and expanded capabilities. For businesses in the Singapore market looking to establish a strong online presence, a reputable website design agency or web design firm might offer the most comprehensive solution.

Government Grants for Websites in 2026

If you are hoping a grant will help with your website, it is worth knowing what has changed. Enterprise Singapore’s Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) and Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) ceased on 29 September 2026. From 30 September 2026, businesses apply for support under the EDGE Grant instead. Projects already approved under the old grants continue.

What EDGE covers for websites

EDGE gives companies up to $100,000 of support a year across all activities. Within that, up to $30,000 a year can go to digital solutions and equipment. EDGE’s pre-approved digital solutions do not include website design or development, but two of them can support your website once it is live:

  • E-commerce online shop software: the cost is capped at $5,000, with up to 50% support for SMEs (up to $2,500).
  • Digital marketing software: the cost is capped at $10,000, with up to 50% support for SMEs (up to $5,000).

Both cover software costs for up to 12 months, from pre-approved vendors.

Branding for overseas markets

If you are expanding overseas, EDGE’s International Branding activity supports up to 70% of brand research, brand strategy and brand identity costs for SMEs. Website development is not covered under this activity, but a clear brand strategy gives your new website a strong direction. See our EDGE grant page for details.

Before you apply

  • EDGE only supports projects that have not started, so apply before you begin work or pay a deposit.
  • Your company must be registered and operating in Singapore, and at least 30% owned by Singaporeans or Singapore PRs.
  • An SME is a company with group annual sales of up to $100 million, or up to 200 workers.

For the latest details, see the Enterprise Singapore EDGE page.

Conclusion

A website in Singapore can cost from about $1,000 for a simple template site to more than $100,000 for a complex web application. Most business websites cost $4,000 to $12,000, and custom corporate websites $10,000 to $30,000 or more. It is also worth setting aside about $1,000 to $6,000 a year to run your website well.

The right choice depends on what your website needs to achieve. A freelancer can be a good fit for a simple site. If your website needs to carry your brand and win business, an agency that starts from strategy and user experience is usually the better investment.

Grants for websites are limited in 2026. EDGE can help with pre-approved e-commerce and digital marketing software, but not with custom website design or development.

If you are planning a new website or a redesign, we would be glad to talk through your goals.
