Five Singapore companies combine Peranakan heritage, sustainable design, and augmented reality to create a collectible angbao that lasts.
Titled "The Blessing of Reunion" 团圆是福, this angbao design was born from a collaboration between five Singapore companies united by a shared vision — Creativeans led the creative direction and experience design, Fujifilm provided the special colour printing technology, OVOL provided sustainably sourced premium paper, Musa 24 Hours Printing handled precision production, and HOVARLAY powered the augmented reality experience. Together, the angbao design brings together five Singapore-rooted elements: a Peranakan window frame symbolising the threshold between old and new, a Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid crown replacing generic zodiac motifs to reflect national identity, a central lo hei scene celebrating many hands and one shared wish, a Merlion lion dance fusion expressing Singapore's multicultural character, and an AR layer that extends the lo hei celebration beyond the physical table.

An end-to-end process from concept development to AR creation of the angbao design
The angbao design process started from concept sketches to illustration refinement, material and colour testing, and finally the creation of an AR experience. Each angbao design stage was guided by the intention to express reunion in a way that feels warm, familiar, and easy to relate to — allowing the ang bao to connect seamlessly with the act of gathering and celebrating together.
Sustainable Materials & Thoughtful Craft
A festive palette of reds, purples, and gold, tested to express warmth, celebration, and reunion across print and digital touchpoints.
The colour palette of this angbao design intends to bring together warm festive reds, vibrant oranges, and rich purples, accented with gold to evoke celebration, prosperity, and togetherness. Carefully tested across print and digital applications, the colours balance tradition with contemporary energy, reinforcing the emotional warmth of Chinese New Year gatherings.
Extending the Ritual Through Augmented Reality
The augmented reality layer, powered by HOVARLAY’s no-code AR platform, transforms the red packet from a one-time festive exchange into a living lo hei ritual
本地设计公司Creativeans以团圆饭桌为设计灵感,并使用AR增强现实科技,透过扫码,红包上的年菜会动起来,点击菜肴还会讲解不同年菜的含义。红包最打动人的是那句“团圆是福”。
