Applying for the EDG Grant
To begin your EDG grant application, you'll need to access the Business Grants Portal (also known as the BGP portal) using your CorpPass credentials. This portal, similar to the PSG grant portal, streamlines the application process for various business grants offered by Singapore, including the EDG.
When applying, it's important to understand the qualifying costs covered by the grant. These may include expenses related to third-party consultancies, software and equipment, and internal manpower directly involved in the project implementation.
It's worth noting that while the EDG is primarily targeted at SMEs, non-SMEs may also be eligible for support in certain cases, particularly for projects that have significant potential for job creation or positive worker outcomes. This makes it an attractive option for both SME funding Singapore and startup funding Singapore.
Maximising Your EDG Grant Benefits
To make the most of your EDG grant:
- 1Clearly define your project objectives and how they align with EDG's goals
- 2Provide detailed project timelines and milestones
- 3Outline expected outcomes, including potential for business upgrading and wage increment
- 4Prepare comprehensive financial projections and audited financial statements if required
By leveraging the EDG grant, your business can access the SME funding Singapore needs to drive innovation, enhance productivity, and expand into new markets. Whether you're exploring startup grants Singapore or an established SME looking for business grants, the Enterprise Development Grant offers a valuable opportunity to transform your operations and stay competitive in the global marketplace.
The EDG is more than just financial assistance; it catalyses transformation. By providing the resources needed for companies to innovate and grow, this Singapore enterprise grant plays a crucial role in shaping the future of businesses in Singapore. Whether you're looking to enhance your core capabilities, boost productivity, or expand into new markets, the EDG can provide the support you need to take your business to the next level.
Understanding the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG)
The Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) is a funding initiative by Enterprise Singapore designed to help local businesses grow and transform. It supports projects in three key areas: Core Capabilities, Innovation and Productivity, and Market Access. EDG encourages companies to upgrade their operations, explore international markets, and strengthen business foundations for long-term growth.
To qualify for EDG support, a business must meet these criteria: • Be registered and operating in Singapore • Have a minimum of 30% local shareholding • Be financially viable to undertake and complete the project For SMEs, additional classification applies, such as having an annual turnover not exceeding S$100 million or employing no more than 200 workers.
SMEs can receive up to 50% of eligible project costs. Non-SMEs may receive up to 30%. From April 2023 to March 2026, selected sustainability-related projects may be eligible for higher support levels, subject to approval by Enterprise Singapore.
EDG supports qualifying project costs such as third-party consultancy fees, acquisition of equipment and software, and incremental internal manpower costs directly related to the project.
Application Requirements
We are Registered Management Consultants (RMC), an Enterprise Singapore-recognised certification programme for management consultants aligned to SS 680:2021 Specification for Management Consultants. With effect from 1 January 2017, SMEs seeking EDG support for consultancy-related costs under their capability upgrading projects will have to engage certified management consultants who possess Enterprise Singapore-recognised certification.
Our lead consultants Kimming Yap and Yulia Saksen are registered management consultants (RMC) and recognised industry leaders.
- 1We have over a decade of track record working with SMEs to apply for government grants.
- 2Our team will support you in the grant application process and provide reliable advice.
The Enterprise Development Grant application process typically takes between 8 to 12 weeks from submission to approval. Processing time may vary depending on the project's complexity and completeness of the application.
The required documents for the EDG application include: • Latest ACRA BizFile (dated within 6 months) • Audited financial statements or certified management accounts for the last financial year • A detailed project proposal using Enterprise Singapore templates • Quotations or proposals from vendors or consultants • Proof of consultant certification (for consultancy projects)
Yes, businesses can apply for the EDG directly through the Business Grants Portal using CorpPass. However, if your project involves consultancy work, you must engage a consultant certified under ESG's Registered Management Consultant (RMC) framework.
To qualify, your project must align with one of EDG’s three pillars and involve eligible costs such as third-party consultancy, software and equipment purchase, or internal manpower. Projects should demonstrate clear business impact and capability development.
After submission through the Business Grants Portal, Enterprise Singapore will review your application and may request additional information. Once approved, you will receive a Letter of Offer outlining the grant details and conditions. You must accept the offer before starting your project.
Your project proposal must be comprehensive and clearly state the project objectives, scope of work, implementation timeline, and expected business outcomes such as increased revenue, productivity, or overseas expansion. Financial projections for the next three years are also required.
The Enterprise Development Grant is disbursed on a reimbursement basis. Businesses must first complete the approved project and submit a claim through the Business Grants Portal. Disbursement typically occurs within 6 to 8 weeks after a successful audit and claim verification.
Yes, companies must bear the upfront project costs first. You can submit an interim claim for up to 20% of the approved grant amount after starting the project but before full payment to vendors, subject to Enterprise Singapore's approval.
After completing your project, submit all invoices, receipts, proof of deliverables, and a final project report through the Business Grants Portal. A third-party audit from an Enterprise Singapore-approved auditor is required to verify claimable expenses.
Yes, an audit process is mandatory before grant disbursement. Companies must appoint a certified auditor from ESG’s pre-approved panel to validate all claims. Enterprise Singapore may also conduct follow-up checks to ensure compliance.
Maximising Your Grant
Enterprise Singapore does not support projects that have commenced before the grant application is approved. Additionally, marketing-only initiatives, such as promotional campaigns, advertisements, and production of collateral like flyers, websites, and influencer engagement, are excluded from EDG funding.
Enterprise Singapore requires companies engaging consultants to use those certified under the Registered Management Consultant (RMC) scheme. Certified consultants ensure that the project meets professional standards and aligns with ESG’s funding guidelines.
An RMC is a consultant certified under the Singapore Standards SS 680 or Technical Reference TR 43. These consultants are officially recognised by Enterprise Singapore and are qualified to lead strategic transformation projects under the EDG scheme.
Creativeans is a branding consultancy and Enterprise Singapore-recognised RMC that provides end-to-end EDG support. We help develop strong project proposals, manage grant documentation, liaise with auditors, and guide you through the application and claims process to maximise approval success.
