EDGE Grant 2026: What Replaces EDG, PSG, and MRA for Singapore SME Branding Projects

EDGE is Enterprise Singapore’s single business grant. It replaced the Enterprise Development Grant (EDG), Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) and the Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG) for new applications from 30 September 2026. For branding, the main activity is International Branding: up to 70% support for SMEs and 50% for non-SMEs, for a specific overseas market, within a S$100,000 yearly cap.

We first published this article in April 2026, before EDGE launched. We rewrote it after launch, using the rules Enterprise Singapore and BizSG have published. Facts checked on 4 October 2026.

What happened to EDG, MRA and PSG?

From 30 September 2026, new applications that would have gone to EDG, MRA or PSG are made under EDGE.

If your company applied under EDG, MRA or PSG before 30 September 2026, nothing changes for you. Applications and projects already under these schemes continue to be processed under their original programmes.

For businesses, the main difference is that there is now one grant with one set of rules and one yearly cap across all activities, instead of three separate grants.

The eight business areas

BizSG, the government’s business support portal, groups EDGE activities into eight areas:

Area Examples of activities Support for SMEs / non-SMEs
Automation Equipment such as autonomous mobile robots and automated food equipment Up to 50% / 30%
Business Strategy Business Strategic Planning 50% / 30%
Digitalisation Business software, integrated enterprise systems and large-scale digital transformation 50% / 30%
Financial Management Financial framework and corporate strategy, investor relations, risk management 50% / 30%
Innovation Product development 50% / 30%
Internationalisation International Branding, overseas marketing and PR, overseas trade fairs, market entry setup, finding overseas partners 70% / 50% for most activities
Standards Adopting general, sector-specific, digital and sustainability standards 50% / 30% (70% / 50% for sustainability standards)
Sustainability Sustainability strategy, resource optimisation, sustainable product development 70% / 50%

Support levels are set per activity. Check the activity page on Enterprise Singapore or BizSG before you plan a budget.

What EDGE covers for branding

The branding activity under EDGE is International Branding, in the Internationalisation area. BizSG describes it as support to “develop and refine your brand strategy to strengthen your value proposition for overseas customers”, and says the branding project “should be market specific”.

Companies choose at least one of three areas of support:

  • Brand research and analysis, including a brand audit, competitor analysis and gap analysis.
  • Brand strategy for overseas expansion, including positioning, target segments, brand architecture or portfolio strategy, and a strategic roadmap for target markets.
  • Brand identity development or refresh, including brand elements and guidelines.

Not supported under International Branding:

  • Activities aimed at domestic business opportunities
  • GST
  • Running costs such as collateral production, website development and social media management

Other EDGE activities that often sit next to a branding project:

Activity SMEs Non-SMEs What it supports
International Branding 70% 50% Brand research, strategy and identity for a specific overseas market
Overseas Marketing and Public Relations 70% 50% Marketing and PR activities in the target market
Business Strategic Planning 50% 30% Business strategy, growth strategies and an implementation roadmap
Sustainability Strategy Development 70% 50% A sustainability strategy, with options to add a sustainability report and assurance

A worked example

An SME plans a brand strategy and identity for its entry into Indonesia. The vendor quotes S$60,000 before GST.

  • The maximum support at 70% is S$42,000.
  • The company pays the vendor the full S$60,000 plus GST first, then submits one claim.
  • The S$42,000 counts towards the company’s S$100,000 EDGE cap for that year (1 April to 31 March).

The actual amount depends on what Enterprise Singapore approves. GST is not supported.

Who can apply

  • The business is registered and operating in Singapore.
  • At least 30% of it is owned, directly or indirectly, by Singaporeans and/or Singapore PRs.
  • It has not started work or paid any deposit to a supplier, vendor or third party before submitting the application.

Non-profit organisations, societies, religious entities, voluntary welfare organisations, statutory boards and government subsidiaries cannot apply.

Only the company’s own staff can submit and manage the application. Consultants and vendors, including Creativeans, cannot apply on your behalf.

Some activities have extra rules. For example, Sustainability Strategy Development is only for companies that have never developed or published a sustainability report.

Do you need an SS 680-certified consultant?

Yes, for the three activities most relevant to brand and strategy projects. For International Branding, Business Strategic Planning and Sustainability Strategy Development, the application must include the vendor’s SS 680 certification.

SS 680:2021 is the Singapore Standard for management consultancy. Certification belongs to the individual consultant, not the company. Certifications assessed against SS 680:2021 include Registered Management Consultant (RMC), Practising Management Consultant (PMC) and Singapore Certified Management Consultant (SCMC). Ask any vendor for the certificate type, the number and the name of the person who holds it.

At Creativeans, our EDGE projects are led by our Managing Director, Kimming Yap, a Registered Management Consultant (RMC) with the Institute of Management Consultants (Singapore).

From application to claim

1) Choose the activity and agree the scope with your vendor.

2) Apply on the Business Grants Portal with your company’s Corppass account, before any work starts or any payment is made.

3) Wait for the outcome. For International Branding, Business Strategic Planning and Sustainability Strategy Development, Enterprise Singapore indicates about 10 weeks.

4) Costs incurred from the date of application are covered if the application is approved. If it is not approved, those costs are yours.

5) Complete the project within 12 months from the date of approval.

6) Submit the end-of-project report and pay the vendor in full.

7) Submit one single and final claim. For these three activities, claims open from 1 December 2026.

What to prepare for an International Branding application

  • An outline of your overseas market strategy and expansion plan
  • The vendor’s proposal for the target market, its quotation and its SS 680 certification
  • A projection of overseas sales for one year after the project
  • A projection of new jobs created (overall and Singaporeans only) with a gross monthly salary above S$5,000, for one year after the project

Five mistakes to avoid

1) Starting work or paying a deposit before you submit the application.

2) A branding project with no named overseas market. International Branding must be market specific.

3) Putting a website, social media management or printed collateral into the branding scope. These are not supported under International Branding.

4) Asking your vendor to submit the application. Only your own staff can apply.

5) Planning to use the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) for the rest of the cost. EDGE is not supportable under SFEC.

Were you planning an EDG branding project?

If you applied under EDG before 30 September 2026, your application continues under EDG.

If you had not applied yet, the next step depends on your market:

  • If the brand is for a specific overseas market, apply under EDGE International Branding.
  • If the brand is for the Singapore market only, International Branding does not apply. Business Strategic Planning (50% for SMEs) supports business strategy work such as market and competitor analysis and growth strategies, but its published scope does not include brand identity.

If you are not sure which activity fits, talk to us. We will tell you honestly whether EDGE is likely to apply to your project.

Book a free EDGE readiness consultation with Creativeans to assess your branding project, understand whether EDG still makes sense for your timing, and prepare for the transition with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

When did EDGE start?

EDGE opened for new applications on 30 September 2026.

Can I still apply for EDG?

No. From 30 September 2026, new applications are made under EDGE. Applications submitted under EDG before that date continue under EDG.

Does EDGE cover branding projects?

Yes, for overseas markets. The International Branding activity supports brand research, brand strategy and brand identity for a specific overseas market, at up to 70% for SMEs and 50% for non-SMEs.

Does EDGE cover a new website?

Not under International Branding. Enterprise Singapore lists website development as a cost that this activity does not support.

Do I need an RMC consultant for EDGE?

For International Branding, Business Strategic Planning and Sustainability Strategy Development, the vendor must provide SS 680 certification. RMC, PMC and SCMC are certifications assessed against SS 680:2021. Creativeans' Managing Director, Kimming Yap, is a Registered Management Consultant.

Can Creativeans apply for us?

No. Only your company's own staff can submit and manage an EDGE application. We prepare the proposal, quotation and project documents you need.

How much EDGE support can a company receive each year?

Most EDGE support counts towards a cap of S$100,000 per company per year, counted from 1 April to 31 March. BizSG notes that large-scale automation and large-scale digital transformation projects do not count towards this cap.

When can I submit a claim?

After the project is complete and fully paid. Claims open from 1 November 2026 for single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and pre-scoped equipment, and from 1 December 2026 for all other activities. EDGE allows one single and final claim.
