Design for a Sustainable Future
In conjunction with Singapore Design Week 2024 and in collaboration with the Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore), we launched the Coexistence by Design programme, which consists of 'Guided Nature Walk,' a 'Panel Discussion,' and a 'Kokedama Design Workshop.' Through these programmes, event participants have the opportunity to engage with experts from various fields and explore how design can contribute to better coexistence between humans and nature.
Bridging Conservation and Design Through an Immersive Singapore Design Week Experience
KEY CHALLENGE
No platform to engage design professionals directly with conservation themes in meaningful ways
-
The Jane Goodall Institute (Singapore) and Creativeans faced the challenge of introducing conservation to an introspective design-focused audience that had not previously engaged deeply with such themes
-
The initiative needed to move beyond traditional conservation outreach and create authentic, immersive touchpoints for designers—who might literally need to get their shoes wet
-
Without experiential and narrative-rich programming the scale of wildlife conservation could feel abstract or distant to a creative demographic
-
There was no existing framework to connect design thinking with ecological systems in a way that felt tangible and relevant
THE SOLUTION
Created a series of experiential and educational touchpoints to bring conservation alive for designers
-
Created Coexistence by Design as the central concept, anchored by three key physical activations: a guided nature walk, a panel discussion, and a Kokedama plant-making workshop
-
Designed and developed a dedicated website to serve as the main information hub and ticketing point for the programme
-
Produced social media assets to raise awareness, encourage participation, and sustain engagement throughout the event
-
Designed large-format communication touchpoints such as billboards and public posters to extend reach beyond the design community
-
Applied consistent branding and messaging across all digital and physical materials to strengthen recall and connect with diverse audiences
-
Directed ticket proceeds towards the Jane Goodall Institute Singapore, reinforcing the link between participation and conservation impact
