In conjunction with Singapore Design Week 2019, we launched Creativity Festival, an annual symposium where you can learn about Branding, Creativity and Design from subject matter experts and an interactive workshop all in a day. Organised by the DesignSingapore Council, Singapore Design Week brings together a collection of local and international design activities in Singapore.

Igniting Brand Thinking Through the Creativity Festival at Singapore Design Week

THE CREATIVE CHALLENGE
Bridging the gap between awareness of branding and practical tools for small businesses
  • Many business owners and attendees knew branding was important but lacked clear understanding of how branding actually works in practice

  • There was a need to demystify branding and creativity so it feels accessible, not just idealistic or theoretical

  • Businesses had inconsistent or weak visual identities and storytelling, limiting their ability to connect emotionally with their audiences

  • Without experiential learning and guided methodologies, participants risked leaving with ideas but no concrete way to implement them

Delivered a one-day immersive symposium that empowers participants with tangible branding tools and inspiration
  • Organised the Creativity Festival as part of Singapore Design Week 2019, featuring a morning session of industry speakers on creativity, branding, and design thinking

  • Ran a hands-on branding workshop to help business owners understand branding vs marketing, explore brand value, and apply practical exercises

  • Hosted panel discussions about strategy, service, and product design to share insights on how to turn imaginative ideas into reality

  • Provided methodologies and interactive activities so participants could leave with actionable insights to build stronger and more meaningful brands

Celebrating Creativity
Creativity Festival commenced with an insightful morning session by prominent speakers from different industries on the subject of Creativity and Design. It continued with a brand-building workshop that unravelled the mystery of branding through practical examples and interactive activities and introduced methodologies that the participants can apply to build a strong brand for their businesses.
PANEL ON BRANDING & DESIGN
Moderated by Sharina Khan, the panel discussion for the Branding Track discussed how to generate ideas and create alternatives in solving problems, and turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. The panel discussion for Design Track touched on the speakers' approaches to design across strategy, service and products, and how they use design to impact organisations and people.
BRANDING WORKSHOP

Do you know the difference between branding and marketing? Is your business commanding premium brand value? Facilitated by Yulia Saksen, co-author of branding book Are You Brand Dead?, she conducted a hands-on Branding workshop where she unravelled the mystery of branding through practical examples and interactive activities, and introduced methodologies that the participants can apply to build a strong brand for their businesses.
